a little bit about lizard king:
she has been been doing poetry and music shows in the southwest for about 5 years now. she started organizing these shows as a way of releasing nervous energy when she got sober and also because she couldn‘t think of anything else to do.
liz liano is a certified peer support worker in Las Cruces, originally from El Paso, Texas with two beautiful cat-sons.
all her content and motivation for shows centers around recovery and reducing the stigma of mental health
she has been sober for 6 years, and believes in the rooms of bad coffee and stories of love life and death
she works hard on engaging art and music with the non-profit and civic sector to bring promotion of mental health to wider populations. her big dream is to see a more resourced community with less mental health stigma and more health literacy.
she believes in love and recovery and the light coming back. she love words and bad jokes and her little kitties. every small good thing is worth staying for.
she is currently working on a dual master’s in Public Health and Social Work. she plans to use whatever she learns to further the strength and literacy in the community around her.
her work rotates around the praxis that we are all worthy and capable of recovery.
